Assigning channels of a Korg M1R

I have a Roland VSR880, Roland PC300 controller, Midiman 2x2, Korg M1R, Boss DR5 and a G3. The VSR880 is connected into the In A & Out A of the Midiman 2x2. The M1R is connected into the In B & Out B of the Midiman 2x2. The Boss DR5 is connected from the Midi Thru of the M1R. The PC300 plays the DR5(channels 13-16) and the M1R(only channel 1) via Metro.
How can I assign instruments to Channels 2 - 8? Is it done through Metro or does the M1R have to be set up a certain way?

What OS? What version of Metro?

If it OS X and Metro 6.0.8 (SE) then you need to go to the AMS program from apple in your utilities folder and make sure that the M1R is set to receive on the channels you want. Then do the 'make instruments reflect studio set up document' option from the modify instruments bussed dialog accessed from the special menu.

I apologize. This is my first time on the forum. It's os 9.2. I haven't upgraded yet. I have Metro 5. I've been browsing the site for the past 2 hours and realized that there is a forum for Metro 5 users. Should I resubmit my question there?

I am not sure what these questions mean but I will be presumptuous and try to answer.

The easiest way is to configure OMS so that all the channels and devices have a one to one correspondence with your actual studio setup.

Is it done through Metro or does the M1R have to be set up a certain way?

The M1R has a bunch of modes. Program mode only accepts info on a single (configurable) channel. Combination mode allows you to configure which channels it will receive on, up to 8 different channels and I am not sure whether or not the M1R has a sequencer mode. I know the M1 does. In sequencer mode you can assign multi-channel setups similar to combination mode.

I kinda like that.

If it doesn't work it's because the midi dept. is stamping 'return to sender' on their memos.

OMS is sometimes a bit of a hit and miss experiment to awaken channels from your midi device and get you setup working properly.

Once done it should be just a matter to go to the special menu and click on modify instruments and busses and add some instruments. Make sure you start with channel 2 and add 7. (talking in metro 5 terms here)
