Possible problem with Metro SE 6.0.8 and Midiman 1X1?

Postby sseaton » Mon Jul 21, 2003 2:23 pm

I just got a PB G4 (15.2 LCD) and was looking forward to using Metro SE 6.0.8. I installed my M-Audio driver for the Midiman 1X1 and saw it in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. So far so good. However when I went inot MIDI setup in Metro, i received a dialogue that said no MIDI devices could be found.

Of course I thought that I was just having a problem with the PB G4, so I went back to my iBook and I got the same problem. Then I started to think it was a problem with the OS X 10.2.6 system software. I tried this version on both the PB and th iB. I reinstalled OS X 10.2, the driver, and Metro 6.0.8 on the iB and still got the same results: Midiman 1X1 could be seen by Audio MIDI Setup but not Metro SE 6.0.8.

I am almost postive this is the first time I tried to record MIDI with SE version 6.0.8. And I never had any problems like this with other versions of SE before. So, I have since downloaded MidiPipe and it sees the Midiman just fine on both the PB and the iB.

Has anyone else had a problem with SE 6.0.8 or perhaps the full version while working with the Midiman 1X1?

Jerm... maybe you could send me an older version of SE to see if there is a problem. I'll also download the demo for the full version as well. Thanks in advance for all of your help... and sorry for the long message.

UPDATE: There is a problem with SE 6.0.8

Postby sseaton » Mon Jul 21, 2003 3:13 pm

I just downloaded the full demo version of Metro 6.0.8, and I have no problems. The demo sees my Midman 1X1 and I am able to use my soundfonts and record MIDI tracks, etc. So it seems that Metro SE 6.0.8 is the culprit.

Sean,

This problem is outlined here:

Note that even though Metro 6.0.8.1 works around this, it is not really a Metro problem and should be fixed in the MIDIMan driver, which by the way exhibits the same problem when re-scanning in AMS.

So if you were to have this problem.........

it remains if you rescan in AMS but it doesn't if you use the Metro rescan button?

So the metro rescan is better than apples!

No! The problem will happen in either case! If you have a MIDIMan 1x1 (or equivalent) do not use the rescan button until they fix their driver.
