Tempo & Pitch Change problem

Postby jukehouse » Thu Feb 24, 2005 10:49 am

I just opened a song in Metro 6.2.5
The song was originally created with Metro 6.1 (actually recorded on an ADAT and transfered to MAC with Metro 6.1)
When I open the song with 6.2.5 it plays at an increased tempo and at a slightly higher pitch. I also tried 6.2.2, 6.2.3, & 6.2.4 and the same thing happens. I also noticed while watching the Graphic Editor window that the sound actually starts before the scroll bar reaches the grapic of what is playing.

I also noted that if I go back and open the same song in Metro 6.1 it plays at the correct speed and pitch.

I also think, but am less sure about this, that I didn't experience this problem prior to the 6.2.5 pre-release. That is, when I upgraded to 6.2 from 6.1 I could open files created with 6.1 and they would play properly in 6.2; But, now that I've upgraded to 6.2.5 even the earlier versions of 6.2 have become problematic.

This sounds very odd. Are you using an audio card that is slaved to word clock? Can you email me a very small snippet of the audio that still reproduces the problem as a Metro bundle file?

Audio Card/snippet

If by Audio Card you mean the card I'm using to input audio, that is the MOTU PCI 324. I'm unaware of "slaved to word clock."

I can e-mail you a small snippet of the audio that still reproduces the problem. This is a song with 8 audio track. What exactly do you want me to send you and how do I create it ?

However

However, the problem does not seem to be limited to this one song. It seems that the problem exists in anything that was created with 6.1 and had not run in a version of 6.2 prior to me uprading to 6.2.5

Have you checked that you are running at the same sample rate in 6.1 and 6.2?

To create a sample, open the document and delete everything but say the first two measures. Then save as portable bundle file, when the save dialog comes up be sure to select "compacted bundle document" from the type popup.

After verifying that the problem still exists in the newly created document, email me the file for analysis.

A simple fix

Postby jukehouse » Fri Feb 25, 2005 7:32 am

I just checked the sample rate and found that 6.2 was set at 48000 while 6.1 was at 44100. I guess I just assumed that the default sample rate was always 44100 (seems like it was with previous versions.)So anyway, that did take care of the problem.

Thanks
