Does Metro have any sort of a clipping indicator that holds?
I am trying to transfer an old vinyl LP to CD. I used to use a wonderful app called "Coaster" but it never got updated to OS X. So I'm trying to use Metro's audio recording abilities.
I'm trying to get the maximum signal I can get, without clipping, which I think is very important for getting a good S/N ratio from vinyl.
Coaster used to have a clipping indicator that would "hold". Once you clipped, the little red light stayed on. (You could even define how many max samples equals a clip. I used to use Coaster's default setting, which I think was 3 max samples in a row.)
In Coaster, I could just play an LP and come back when the side was done and look at the clipping indicator to see if it clipped. If it did, I could just reduce the input level a little bit and try it again. This was so convenient!
Is there any sort of clipping indicator that holds?

No, but there is an excellent utility for doing exactly what you want (and perhaps a little bit more) and it is completely free, although I believe donations are accepted

It is called RMS Buddy .... highly recommended!
The best way to use this utility is to place it after everything on an aux buss and then set all of your direct output faders to zero. Then from the aux page, make them send to the aux buss pre-fader (not post) and put the aux send faders up. This will send the audio to RMS buddy and then through to your final output.
If you only have one track then using it as a track-insert works excellently too.

I used to have a sticking clip meter but I think it was a bug or a slow computer. 
Sometimes it pays to have it a little below the max, if the LP has a lot of clicks and pops.......and you don't have a sound reduction plug to take em out.
I remember our old thorn 5 in 1 stereo had a auto gain on it and when you recorded to tape, the beginning of the song would sound like thunder before the song kicked in and the gain turned itself down. hehehe.
