I seem to be having problems with audio play through. In Metro 5, I would goto setup > digital audio > recording options > play through. (OS 9 iMac G3, audio going to sound in) In Metro 6 I can get the audio to play through the mixer, and can monitor the sound through the mixer, but cannot hear any play through on the head phones through the head phone jack on the G5 (panther). All of the physical hardware audio is exactly the same as it was with the G3 ( I unpluged the jack going to the sound in of the G3 then pluged it into the audio in of the G5) so I'm relativly sure that it is not a studio wireing screw up. Also with Garage Band the play through works as it would with Metro 5, so I'm pretty sure it is not the G5. I have made sure to leave the play through on in GB (in case it is taking over the prefs). When I switch to Metro 6 the play through (head phone jack on G5) is gone regadless if GB is active or not. In Metro 6, I goto Setup > Digital Audio > Device Options > ... then what... I have tried Output only mode on and off with no change.... What am I doing wrong?
The reason this is so important is because I use the mixer (and all that intails) to monitor the sound that is comming into the computer, the earphone jack on the computer is used for the person that is making the audio recording. Because of the way that things are routed though the mixer, I cannot use it (the mixer) to monitor the sound through and record the in coming audio track at the same time. If I did, I would record the backing tracks along with the audio track being recorded (a major no). If I set up the mixer to play the backing tracks (not allowing them to go through), but allow the audio track that needs to be recorded through, I loose the ability to monitor that in coming audio track.
