Play Through on Ti667/audio input?

Postby braj » Wed Dec 31, 2003 11:52 pm

Is there a way to hear what is being played through the audio input on my Powerbook in real time while recording? This page indicates the option would be found in Core Audio parameters, but it's not there.

Thanks!

The full version of Metro has a software audio through feature (that has a latency of at least one audio packet).

I think that CoreAudio added some kind of play-through to built-in in Panther (OS X 10.3).

I have Panther but still no play-through. I wonder how to enable it?

There seems to be a switch in AMS on the audio tab. At least there is on my dual G4. ( I have a ti667 but it is still running 10.2.8 ). :(

So, now I have to ask, can you have the effects work with an instrument playing in real time? I have a Saxxy electronic kazoo my wife got me, and I want to throw a delay on it just for fun.

Just put the instrument on track 1 and then place the delay on aux 1. Go to the mixer window and goto the popup named "Main" and change it to aux 1. Raise the fader at the same location as the track the instrument is playing on.........what you are now doing is increasing the strength of the effect on that track.

braj,

If you are asking if you can play-through an effect in real time, the answer is yes but only if you have the full version of Metro.

Thanks Jerm. I guess I'll be saving up my pennies for the full version. Last night I discovered how limiting having only one synth or 4 effects at a time can be. Anyway, I'm happy, Metro SE is the best value in any musical item I've ever purchased. The way you edit drums reminds me of my old Boss DR-110. Very cool.

What are the other limitations of the SE version? Just curious.

Wow, I'm interested to see how well the notation and scale and chord features work. I guess I've gotten way off topic, this isn't audio related. Thanks for the help, Jerm.

Anyway, would scoot's workaround work in SE for now?

Check out the Metro demo.

Scoot's suggestion is for playback not for realtime input.
