How do I split channels into tracks?

Postby Stephanie » Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:12 pm

Hi all:

I'm new here and new to Metro so please forgive what may be a dumb question.

When I open most of my MIDI files (generated by a friend using Cakewalk), everything appears in a single track. Insruments are separated by channels, so will play back correctly, but the mush is uneditable.

If I load the same file onto my General MIDI keyboard (by General Music) and save it, all the channels appear in their own tracks. I can then use Metro SE to change instruments, adjust the mix and so on.

Can I do this track splitting in Metro SE and if so, how?

From the edit menu, use 'expand by channel'
