Cursor freezes....

Postby Aiki1 » Sun Dec 26, 2010 10:18 pm

Hi - looking for some help here - I upgraded my system to OSX 10.6.5 from 10.6.4 and now when my USB midi interface is plugged in the cursor is frozen and I keep getting a prompt that "A record enabled track has an input selection that is out of range. This must be corrected from the Track window before recording." OR "-221 Invalid Sound Input Device."

The only other thing that has changed besides the system update is that I have disconnected my Soundsticks from the computer. I never used them to output anything from Metro SE in the first place though....

Can anyone help? I keep trying to change the ports etc. but nothing is working. As soon as I unplug the USB midi interface (UNO) the cursor unlocks, but I can't seem to fix the problem....

Thanksfor any help.

Sounds like a driver problem.

You can avoid the input error message by changing the default record input selection. You can do this by going to the tracks window and select a valid input from the record input select column. If the input select column is not visible, select it from the triangular pop down menu directly to the left of the 'r', 'm', 's' column headers.

Also go to the digital audio setup menu and be sure you have a valid input device selected.

Thanks - ok, everything is ok now that I plugged the USB into a different plug, for some reason that made the difference. But - I still get the message about invalid input device and I can't select anything from the dig. audio setup, it's driving me crazy, everytime I do anything it comes up....

Isee what happened, the program didn't like that fact the my Mac Mini doesn't have any audio input source on it's own - I plugged an iSight camera in and just selected that, and it works fine....

That does not sound good. I will look into removing this message in the case where there are no audio inputs.

Thanks.
