Upgrade to OSX4

Postby jukehouse » Fri May 20, 2005 6:33 am

I'm currently running Metro 6.3 under OSX3.6
I just got a copy of OSX4
Should I anticipate any problems running Metro when I install the upgraded system ?

No.

The only thing that may be a problem is that spotlight will whirr your hard disk for quite a while until the indexes are completed. This competes for hard drive throughput.

No problems here with TIGER and my Metro SE or Metro LX.

In fact I find TIGER to be more robust although at the moment there seems to be some hard ware issues. For example, I am still waiting for M-Audio to update there driver for my M-Audio USB MIDISport 8 x 8 midi interface box.

Jerm's comments about Spotlight are true. You may find it best to reset the Spotlight preferences and limit what Spotlight will search/update.

For me here I've set Spotlight to search/update just applications on the hard drive I am working from.
