i am enjoying metro and love the fact that i don't have to switch from os x anymore.. however i seem to be crashing alot. does anyone have any tips on how to make the program more stable..
i am using an ibook os x 700mhz speed 256k, not the most powerful machine.. but shouldn't have the program crashing as much as it does.
it seems to happen at random times and not always coinciding with intensive commands.

Are you using any plug-ins? You may want to launch the console application, select preferences and turn on crash reporting. The resulting log may give us some idea of what is causing the crashing.

Reading the initial post and without looking at the response I was about to say - plug-ins.
I think OSX has made plugin makers a little slack in their writing.
I remember OS9 had more stable plugs......or maybe it was because there were less of them under less varieties.
Then again the plugins were one of the only stable things in OS9. lol.
Can updates effect the way older plugs work?
Could a plugin working under 10.2 and metro 6.05 suddenly have trouble in 10.2.8 and metro 6.1?
sigmasix - more info needed.
especially if you're not working with effects.
any 3rd party device plugged in like a midi interface?

plug ins have been an issue and i'm trying not to overdue it with them..
i also seem to crash when metro is "building audio overview".. like right after i have recorded an audio track.. which also causes me to lose the track.
i am presently using an m-audio quattro interface.
i will make a log of any other problems and report them here.

i do have the latest driver for the quattro. i am using OS 10.2. i am actually abandoning the quattro i am getting ALOT of clicks and pops even if i am recording one track at a time!.. the griffin imic is doing a better job with audio!
a big problem i am having with crashing is (yes its plug in related) when i save my own plugin preset. when i go to recall my plug in.. the whole program crashes.
what is the cause of this?
i have never had much luck with computer recording.. i have spent thousands of dollars on a nice new computer and equipment.. and its horrible.. (i'm not downing your program .. its great.. its just my luck i suppose)

as for now i can deal without recalling my saved plugins as metro seems to remember where i set levels without saving the individual effect.
but a more pertinent problem would be this crashing as soon as i hit stop from recording audio?! no plug ins involved.. metro crashes every time i record an audio track... fortunately the aiff file is saved.. but i have to reopen the program and import the audio files individually.
what would be the cause of this.. and PLEASE.. how do i get it to stop.

I have not heard of or seen the problem you mention. Can you go to the console program and turn on crash logs and then send us a crash log.
What version of Metro are you using? Can you repeat this problem 100% of the time? If yes, what are the steps?

Just a little feedback on this crashing with Metro 6 and the Quattro. I've used the Quattro with Metro 6 on both a Blue and White G3 350MHz/704MB ram and an iMac G4 867MHz/128MB ram. On the G3 I had some trouble with clicks and pops, until M-Audio came out with a updated beta version of the driver. Also, on this machine I had to be careful about the settings for the Quattro. 2 channels of 24/96 is a stretch and not very practical, but running at 16/44.1 is OK. M-Audio's support wasn't the most helpful.
On the iMac G4, I did not have any of the clicks and pops and the results I've gotten with this machine are excellent.
On both machines, I never experienced the type of crashes described here.
It's been a while since I have used the Quattro (I mostly use it for location recording), so I haven't had any experience with the current version (prerelease 6.0.1.3) of Metro. I'll have to crank it up, check it out, and let you know.

after messing around with various configurations i have found that the program will not crash after recording audio as long as i have the audio software thru switch off. which is tricky in some cases with my present setup.. but if it's on, its going to crash .... everytime.

iBook and Quattro performance

FYI,
Last weekend I had the opportunity to use an iBook from the school where I teach. It runs at 600MHz and has a paltry 128MB ram. OS is 10.2.8, Quicktime 6.4, and I used Metro 6.1.0.3 along with the currnet drivers for the Quattro. Quattro was configured to run at 16/44.1 with two inputs and all 4 outputs enabled. To my surprize, everything worked extremely well. Sound quality was excellent. No crashes, even when playing back several audio tracks while simultaneously recording a stereo track. I was not running any plug-ins though.

well i'm not going to sell the quattro just yet..
i'm actually selling the ibook! (to a friend)
decided it was time for an upgrade. i went with a powerbook with a one Ghz processor speed.. i realise i go heavy on plug ins.. does anyone think that this move to a G4 would help? what is everyone else out there using?
