Metro G4 versus Metro SE

Postby hallhenry » Sun Jul 20, 2003 10:43 am

Hi ya'll;

I finally moved up to the (Big MAC!)Metro G4 from SE. However, I cannot open files from my old SE into Metro G4. When I open the MetroSE folder, all the files are grayed out, midi and Aiff. How can i get Metro G4 to recognize and open such?

Next question, I installed a demo of UNITY. Whenever I open the new Mero G4, a warning always appears saying UNTIY is available for 995 ..4...3 days as demo and UNITY permeates all the port settings. Then, on one or two occassions, the Metro G4 crashed because I think there's a 20 minute time limit on UNITY. How do I change the port settings to get Unity out of there?

thanks...hh

addendum to last question on UNITY.

When I open my Metro SE, I don't get the demo warning from UNITY as I do from Metro G4.

thanks...hh

Till Jerm shows up with a real solution.......can you save the files in SE as a bundle and take them across that way?

It is interesting you say they are greyed out.
My soundfonts appear greyed out but they still open when selected.

In the top of the window you need to select all readable files. OS X defaults to greying out files created with a different creator. In this case SE as opposed to Big Mac Metro.

For the Unity problem, it sounds like the plug-in is not installed in the correct place. Have you contacted Bitheadz support?

Hi Jerm and Scooterman:

Changing to readable documents when opening a file from my old SE worked swell. Thanks...

I took the Unity demo out of operation. It seems to install itself in so many different places on my computer that I saw fit to just get rid of it entirely.

I finnally accessed SampleTank thru Metro G4 and the few sample sounds I downloaded are amazing. However, I was unable to open several of the sounds because the Stuffit Expander came up with errors. I'll let Sampletank know. I think its the soft sample I've been looking for. I may get it soon.

All the best ......hh

The problems you're having expanding sampletank samples can be fixed with a newer version of stuffit.
I had a similar problem.......or maybe yours is a new one and its their way of phasing out sampletank free.
