Keystation 88es

Postby Willy&Alice » Sat May 21, 2011 7:19 am

Hello

I once used this program with a Yamaha electronic piano (onboard sound). Now I am using the above M-Audio keyboard with a Mac. I suppose I need to use the built in Mac sounds (leopard).

When I used the old Yamaha, I could hear sound. In Midi setup, I connected new device to a driver.

When I scan Midi, I just get the ESS, IAC DRiver and New External Device. But not sure what to do to get sound.

Midi setup in Metro Menu shows Record, Receive Sync and Sen Sync to the ESS keyboard.

But no sound.

Thank you.

Yes you are right I think the ESS is a input controller and does not output sound (I could be wrong). Anyway to get sound you should first go to Audio MIDI setup program and make sure all your connections are working and named properly. The reason I suspect they are not named properly is because you have a device named 'new external device'. If this is a mistake you should delete it from Apple's Audio MIDI setup program.

Once you have done what I suggested above, you should be able to go to the graphic editor and select 'Apple DLS/Soundfont' from the synths popup in the title bar. Then record enable that track and then you should get sound as long as 'Auto MIDI thru' is on in the switches menu.

If you get stuck, feel free to request more info.
