Hi richchaff and welcome to the forum.

The EFFX AU plugins in the mac version, are part of Apple's system software installation not Metro. You see those EFFX through Metro because the DAW supports AU plugins and VST of course.

Hi rickchaff,
As long as the VST plugin is also build for Windows, I don't see why not.
Click the link below. There are many of them that are free and very good

http://www.sagantech.biz/links/

You can also check Melda plugins. They are very good and not too expensive. Upgrades are free for life. If you purchase one of the bundles, upgrades are still free and when new plugins are added to the bundle, you pay nothing. It's free!!

When you download a plug or a bundle, you get both: OS X and Windows.
They too, have a section of free plugs.
Oh! that I tell you that the developer is very responsive?
Yes, you'll get a response within minutes, 80% of the time and if it's because of a bug, he'll crush it within a day or two and will email you personally.
Click the link below:

As far as I'm concerned, Jeremi Sagan, the developer of Metro and Melda are the best in the business.

Again, welcome aboard and feel free to ask about anything.

Rick,

There are an unbelievable amount of free plug-ins for the PC. Including some great synths, effects and more. I should also warn that since there is so much software for the PC there are also a lot of bug-ridden plug-ins.

I have been meaning to expand our links page to include PC plug-ins as well. In the meantime, simply search KVR for the type of plug-in you are looking for and download the VST version.
