Audio to MIDI

Postby GSpro » Sat Oct 13, 2007 10:30 am

Hello forum,

I need your help.

I'd like to record guitar part(s) over midi as audio track(s) with an actual guitar but, later I would like to convert the guitar audio track as midi track.

Is anything out there available that can do that?

Thank you in advance
GSPro

PS:
Great new release Jerm.

I think there are a couple of products that will convert simple melodies from audio to MIDI. As soon as chords become involved I don't think software will do a very good job of converting.

The best way to convert would be to use a MIDI keyboard or even better a MIDI guitar controller.

Hi Jerm and thanks for the reply.

Here is what I came accross.

Have not tested yet.
Are you familiar with it?

Thanks again

Seriously go with the guitar controller.

The day you put a MIDI pickup on your guitar and strum it with an organ sound coming out of it you will be blown away and wondering why everyone doesn't do it.

I picked up a Roland GR30 very cheaply and it really beats inputing guitar from a keyboard and gives you a better way to record classical string instruments as well.

Thank you Scoot,

I'm doing some shopping around. It looks like I'll have to drop a few hundreds of $$ to get what I need.

Can't wait for a guitar Strum/Arp implemented in Metro.

Anyway thank you for your help
Much appreciated

Based on the samples I heard I think the Rhythm Explorer does what you want now. Simply select the pattern (8ths, 16ths or user) and then make sure RE is configured in guitar mode.
