Logical end-of-file reached! HELP!!!

Postby Industro » Thu Dec 22, 2005 11:20 pm

I am experiencing a persistent error in one of my Metro project files:

Error -39
Logical end-of-file reached during read operation.

I experience this, without failure, every time I try to playback one of my song projects.

This problem halts playback in most parts of the song, with few exceptions.

What causes this error and how to I fix it to salvage my project???

HELP!!!!!

Thanks!

This could happen if you change the references in a file to a new file that has a shorter length. It could also happen if you rename files in the finder and the OS does not connect the alias to the correct file (this is unlikely). It could happen due to a bug in the software or the OS or it could be your disk is corrupted.

What version of Metro and what OS version are you using?

To determine which reference is causing it, try systematically archiving and unarchiving tracks. When the problem goes away you will have the which track is causing the problem. The audio reference will be easy to find at that point.

I found the problem.

I saved the project as a "Compacted Bundle Document" and then re-opended it. All the waveforms in the Tracks Window were re-drawn, except one, which said "-39"

That isolated the problem track.

I opened the corresponding audio file on my disk only to find that it was "wrong" (not sure how that happened).

Luckily, I was able to easily reconstruct the track using a previously saved audio sample from my backup drive.

I'm now back and running 100%.

God bless backup drives!!!
