Metro 6.2 will only work for the first ReWire device and since yours is Live, Reason will not work.

I guess you mean that when you have more than one rewire device installed, they get an 'internal' rewire number of some sort? Because I have been having the problem using only Metro and Reason. Not using Live at the same time.

Hey I don't even have any of these apps needing rewire, wire or any other cabling.

And the fact that metro can now do it, will not encourage me to get any, but it's nice to know it's there.......and I'd be even more of a newbie than you at it.

The aux is as technical as I go.

Error messages

Postby rlwilliams » Mon May 03, 2004 11:21 pm

Jeremy,

Ok, I downloaded the Metro G4 6201.sitx, but I'm getting error messages.

My first attempt said:

1. An error has occurred while expanding the file "Metro G4 6201.sitx". Unable to read or write due to an I/O error (17535).

So, then I tried unstuffing on another computer and got this message:

2. An error has occurred while expanding the file "Metro G4 6201.sitx" (Archive was compressed with an unknown compression method). Error # 17535.

Whatever "17535" is must be the problem. I'm using Stuffit Deluxe 7.0, and it worked fine on the Metro 6.2.sitx file from the other day. Can you help me figure this out? :?

Thanks,

Ronnie

Yes. Another user reported this. Please try the non-G4 version. It reportedly unstuffs fine. I am looking into this...

This problem has been corrected. The G4 version should unstuff fine if you try again. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I just wasted my time downloading stuffit expander 8 (cause you have to grab deluxe and all the other stuff with it (7MB)) and I have not managed to expand Metro either.

Can these files be made self extracting or is that even more trouble?

It wouldn't make any difference in this case if it were self-extracting or not because the file was corrupted.

The problem is fixed. Please re-download Metro G4.

It's working great now, Jerm. Metro's implementation of rewire is actually pretty straightforward. The only problem I'm having now is when I'm mixing/rendering audio, I don't get the first part of the first bar. I have noticed this with Logic Audio as well and I guess it's the time needed for both rewire applications to get in sync. I'll just put in an empty bar at the beginning. :)

I have downloaded the Metro SE 6.2.0.1 (?) since I thought this would be the perfect companion for my Reason. However, I can't get it to work the way I wan't to, so I thought I'd check if I've got it right.

As far as I can see, the only way to get Reason into Metro is as a mix signal (L/R), without the possibility to add any plugin effects to it (i.e. basically just a merge with the stuff in Metro).
Is this correct?
I hope not, since it severly limits the use of this combination, but I just can't get it to work otherwise. I'd like to be able to "import" one instrument, or a mixed down portion of the Reason stuff, to a separate Metro channel for further processing.

Is that possible?
If no, will it ever be (when)?

Best regards, and thanks for the good work,
Håkan Eriksson

Heriks,

It is possible and very easy to do. Simply get your reason setup the way you want it to appear in Metro and then select a reason track for the amount of time you want. Then select mix audio tracks from the edit menu (this is not available in the demo). This will create audio of the current reason setup. Once it is audio you can process it through plug-ins at will.

Rewire, Metro, and Live

Postby rlwilliams » Wed Aug 18, 2004 11:44 pm

Jeremy,

I'm trying to use Metro and Live together. I like working with Metro to do the midi tracks. I've got Rewire playing on the Aux 1 from Live, and midi from the synths playing in track 1 & 2.

If I want to mix this to burn to a cd, first I have to record the midi tracks as audio, right? I can do that. I've recorded them onto separate new tracks.

My dilemma is....
How do I go about using the Rewire/Aux 1 from Live? What do I do to burn all the audio tracks (from midi on 1&2) and the Rewire/Aux 1?

I'm not understanding how to use Rewire to do this.

Thanks,

Ronnie

Use the magical Mix or Render tracks to audio. Your Rewired tracks will appear in the mix as long as the aux fader is not muted. If you want a stereo track of just the rewired tracks then mute everything else, select all and then mix audio tracks.
