Metro G4 version without a G4 - Apple's chip future?

If one was to purchase the G4 version of Metro and Apple went with say a 970 chip, the G4 version wouldn't have any advantage or may not run at all.
Would there be a cross grade or would it be better to purchase the non G4 version?

Store is misleading!

Everyone who has access to the G4 version has access to the non-G4 version. The store is very misleading and will be changed soon to reflect this policy!
