Using Metro 7 In Windows 7(Bootcamp)

Postby fastlanephil » Sun Feb 15, 2015 1:29 pm

Hello Jeremy,

I have Metro 7 running in Windows 7 via Apple’s Bootcamp. Metro recognizes my Tascam US-122 MK II audio interface and my Kawai MP 7 & Axiom 49 midi controllers. I have also installed Garrison Personal Orchestra and have it working in stand-alone mode connected to the same devices.

I’ve installed the Garritan Personal Orchestra VST in the vstplugins folder(which created a Garrison folder where their seem to be duplicates of files called Aria Player Multi VST_x64.dll and Aria Player VST_ x64.dll, which is in the documents folder(actually the Program Files Folder) but they don't show up the Metro Plugins Window. I reinstalled just the GPO VST but no luck. This appears to be the default folder for the VST plugins but is there some where else I need to install it or maybe something else needs to be done(maybe remove the duplicate files?. I’m not familiar with midi/audio and Windows.

I’m running Windows 7 via Apple’s Bootcamp from a SSD installed in the 5 1/4 optical bay. My Mac is now a 2009 flashed 5.1 Mac Pro 3.46 12-core, booting OSX from a SSD using a Sonnet Tempo PCIe card.

Go to preferences and then to the 'VST/Paths' tab. Make sure that your vst plugin path is set to where your VST's are. If that does not help, let me know what your path is and where your VST's (.dll) are.

I figured it out and have GPO(Aria Player)recording in Metro 7.

Thanks for the help!

I have a question about Metro 7 in Windows. I see that the different Metro Windows are captured within one large Metro 7 window except for the Transport Window. If I want to use two displays it looks like I need to stretch the main Metro window over to the second display, the Transport Window being the exception. Is there any way to free float all the Metro Windows like the Metro Windows in OSX? Maybe this is a Windows thing.

In the Windows version you can either stretch the main window across both screens or not. The advantage is that you can move all the window simultaneously by dragging the main window.

Some windows can be divorced from the main window though.

All plug-ins have the option of opening in a 'Floating Window'. Right click on the plug-in from the plug-ins window to specify this feature before instantiating.

The transport window, as you have discovered. Also the Mixer window can be floated via a switch in the switches menu.

I use my second, smaller monitor mainly for the plug-in windows so making them free floating is probably a good feature for me.

Thanks for explaining this.
