Creating an mp3

Postby amriser » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:30 pm

This seems pretty easy in my other music software. My midi files all play through the computer softsynth or Quicktime instruments. I just choose Save As and mp3 is one of the offered formats. My midi file is saved as an audio mp3 with my softsynth sounds. No muss, no fuss.

I cannot for the life of me find a way to do this in Metro.

Can anyone help?

Once you have your audio file on a single stereo (or mono) track you can use export track to save as MP3 as long as you have installed the Quicktime Lame Encoder. After selecting Export Track, select 'export using quicktime' then select 'Sound to MP3' in the save dialog.

You started your answer with 'once you have your audio file'. What I am working with is MIDI data that is played back thru a computer softsynth. As I said, in my other music program I can render that down into an audio file which I listen to and share with others to get comments but my original data is still in MIDI where I can go back and edit the notes.

I cannot figure out how to turn MIDI file to audio in Metro.

FREE CONVERSION...

Postby jokrg » Mon May 12, 2008 11:24 am

You can go and find "SWITCH", which is free to use, and it is extremely easy to use.

Just do a search for: Mac .mp3 Switch convert

Good luck!
