Monitoring While Recording in Metro

Postby Doug Watts » Tue Jan 01, 2008 2:57 am

Hi --

I cannot get a headphone mix out of my Mini-Mac audio output when recording a guitar overdub to previously recorded tracks on metro. Or, more accurately, I can hear all of the previously recorded trax but not the new track as I am recording it -- even though it is actually recording in Metro and is showing a green bar on the track box.

On my old iMac I just went to sound preferences and clicked on "play through" to hear my new track along with the previously recorded tracks. However, in my OS X G4 Mini-mac there is no play-through button in sound preferences. I am using a Behringer FCA202 as my audio interface, which does not have a play-through option on it either.

As a result I cannot record a new audio track while hearing the previously recorded tracks.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

The short answer can be found here.

Unfortunately the CoreAudio team at Apple redesigned the audio device standard so that play-through was very difficult for audio device driver manufacturers to implement and thus there is virtually no support for it.
