Metro G4 in use with Eastwest Gold Orchestra

Postby mtushaus » Tue Mar 13, 2007 9:33 pm

I have:

Mac G4
1.25 GHZ
2 GB RAM
Metro G4 6.2.2.1
Eastwest Quantum Leap Gold Orchestra plug-ins

Having some troubles with the Eastwest plugins. They work for the most part, but I'm experiencing a lot of crashing. Usually this happens during playback, cutting, pasting-- memory utilizing tasks. I realize it is a RAM intensive issue, but it is crashing sometimes even when I have plenty of memory left. Any thoughts? I also have Logic, but its MIDI editing sucks. I like the ease of use with this program, but seems it is having a harder time dealing with this plug-in. Help!

Also, can't access any of my Mac Jampack instruments. Anyway to do so?

One last note-- I notice that the audio output of this program vs. Logic is much quieter--even with the faders up all the way. I typically export to Audacity to amplify the Mix-down file because it is overall too quiet. Is there a better way around this? Thanks!

Well I had contacted East/West in 2005 so that we could exchange products to guarantee compatibility and they had agreed but then never returned my email after that. I believe they are using a NI Kontakt engine for their stuff.

Anyway I would recommend upgrading to Metro 6.3 to see if that helps (try the demo first if you like). Also if the crash is consistent then please relate the exact steps required to reproduce it. Obviously 6.2 is not going to change at this point though.

Metro definitely should not be crashing and I would be interested to see the crash log to see if the crash occurs within Metro or the east west product.

I don't know what the 'Jampack instruments are'. Please provide more information.

Well Metro's faders go to 0dB maximum so there is no gain, only attenuation. You could try going to audio MIDI setup if you just want some volume directly out of your computer and boosting the audio device gain there. Also make sure that the Master fader is all the way up and that if you are using VI's that the individual MIDI channels are set to volume 127 if that is what you want.

It's the Apple Garage Band instruments.

It would be great to have this access through Metro.
