For example, does it print engraver quality scores?

Does it allow adding lyric text?

If I download/try the demo will it muck up my Metro LX preferences?

I have metro prefs and metro demo prefs so I don't see it affecting yours.

Sometimes you need to re-register and get a new name from Sagantech but that could happen after a crash or any odd thing.......so don't let that put you off..........usually happens to me when working with unstable beta plugins or when metro has a hissy fit.

Hasn't happened for a while now.

OK, I downloaded/installed/ran Metro 6.

My observation is that the score "font" is very basic in that it uses the Aloisan font. Reminded me of the Opcode's font show in StudioVisionPro. There was also another program I had that used those Alosian fonts but I can't just recall the name of that program.

Too bad that Metro LX or SE can't have the notation feature since the font service in Metro is so basic.

The only real reason I am needing font services in Metro LX is that I can't work editing my midi recordings using those squigily lines that show up in the track/graphics. I need to see a staff with the actual note that I played on that staff. Unless I am not handling the track graphics window correctly which is more then likely.

There is an Aloisen New font available but I don't know if it will work with Metro. You'll get it by downloading GenieSoft's Overture demo.
Maybe you need more of a notation software than a sequencer... I don't agree with the affirmation that Aloisen is just basic font. I've used it for years in professional work without any user complaint in my scores and lead sheets.

What's actually missing in Metro's notation that you need?

I don't usually work with notation but once or twice I have used it to get a tune into metro out of a songbook and with different instruments, everything was perfect and sounded like the CD........and this was back in Metro 5 days.

Opps, forgot about this posting I started.

I have not really explored all the score features so I may be wrong in my
observations.

I don't think it can for example do tabulature or drum notationa.

It also has a hard time doing grace notes the way they should be printed. It makes a caluclatiion based on the time value for that measure and shifts note values accordingly. Looks ugly when printed.

Metro is not being sold as a scoring software because it only provides basic scoring and there is nothing wrong with that.

Other then that the software is fantastic.

I'll just stay with Metro LX.[/list]
