importing i-tunes downloads for editing..

Does Metro 6.2 not support/ is not able to open: .M4p file formats? I downloaded a track from I-tunes yesterday. And up till now I have not had any problems importing mpgs into Metro SE. This is my first encounter with a .M4p file format. Your thoughts here : )

And is there anyway to record internal audio into metro without any additional hard ware. Let say I was streaming online radio using I-tunes. Is there any way to put that into a channel in mixer of Metro SE?

thanks,

The .m4p files downloaded from the iTunes store are protected so that they will not open in any Quicktime applications such as Metro. What you can do, and this is a pain in the ass, is to burn the downloaded tunes using iTunes onto a CD. Then from the CD you can convert them to any format you want.

As for your other question the answer is yes. There are several 3rd party programs that allow you to capture audio. I will leave it to others here to recommend which is best. I think there is audio hijack, soundflower, wiretap and perhaps others.

This is something I would be looking at soon.
I want to capture the second audio track on a DVD (the commentary) and burn it as mp3 so I can listen to a group of commentarys without the need to put in each disc.

I would have thought all I'd have to do is connect the sound in to the sound out and get metro to record it? No?

That will work but will require an additional and unecessary D/A and A/D conversion.

So using soundflower keeps it digital?

This little app/driver thing seems to work ok.

I have captured streeming audio from iTunes by opening Metro, starting the file in iTunes, then hit record on an internal audio track in Metro.
