i am looking into getting a little midi/ recording station and using metro as my program. i was wondering if anyone can suggest what kind of mac notebook would be good with that and what kind of interface i should get that can record at least 2 audio tracks with 1/4 inch and xlr inputs with something i can run my oxygen 8 and drum machine through and maybe even be a mixer so i can moniter my stuff really good. what i want to be able to do is to program drums with the metro sequencer and be able to lay down guitar tracks at the same time and be able to moniter it all. any suggestions will be appreciated!!

Tascam US428?

Audio inputs, midi in/out but only one of each and a mini mixing desk with faders.
I think you could run another cheap set of midi cables for more midi in on the other USB port.

Any mac portable these days would do the trick quite nicely.
(hold off till the next round of imacs though. a headless G5 imac portable would be nice :) )
