Preventing sound clipping

Postby juanchamo » Sat Jan 24, 2004 11:21 am

Hi,
I've read some sections of the online manual but I can't see it clearly. How do you set up input sound gain so you don't get any clippings when recording?
Do you have to use the system sound preferences or you can do that in the app?
I wonder whether you can set a maximum limit for incoming sound gain so you don't have to worry about excessive volume when you are recording from a live instrument or voice.
Thanks
Juan

Juan,

No. You must deal with clipping before it hits the A to D converter or it is too late. The best way is to have a mixer so you can attenuate the volume before it hits your computer. There a some very decent mixers for around $79.
