Does silence in a track take cpu or disk effort?

I would hope not..........but as the track is still moving along the timeline maybe it does? :?:

Silence, in terms of silent regions take no disk effort. The cpu usage is also reduced although there is still some processing there as long as the track is not completely finished playing. If, on the other hand, silence is in the audio file then there is no difference between it and and any other audio. It is best to make this into a silent region either by clearing it or using the remove silence command.
