IMPORTANT: The official system requirements have changed as of 6.1.
IMPORTANT: Metro Documents written with this version will NOT be readable in any version prior to Metro/Metro SE version 6.3!
IMPORTANT: This pre-release (Metro and Metro SE) still works under OS 9 but we are no longer providing Tech support for OS 9.
IMPORTANT: This is a pre-release, meaning it has some bug fixes (and possibly features) that were deemed important enough to be released before it could be rigorously tested.
We want our software to be bug free. If you find any bugs please report them here.
The following list includes changes to Metro, Metro SE and Metro LX. Some changes may not be applicable to specific products.
New to this version:
• New: Drag and Drop has been vastly improved so that you can drag a MIDI or audio file to a precise time and track in either the graphic editor or Tracks editor. This makes working with plug-ins like Stylus RMX and iDrum much less complicated. This will work for both type 0 and type 1 MIDI files but type 1 MIDI files must contain only a single track. If multiple files are dragged or a type 1 MIDI file with more than 1 track is dragged the destination will be either a new track or a new section.
Drag and drop to the graphic editor in this way is automatically quantized to the nearest bar as indicated in the upper left of the graphic editor.
• New: Stationery documents are back. Metro detects any document with an extension of .msd as a Metro Stationery Document. This will allow users to load in the document but the document will not set the current filename. This means that save will bring up a 'save as' dialog preventing the original document from being implicitly overwritten.
• New: The jukebox will not scroll to the active playing song if playback scrolling is in edit mode.
• New: Standard bank select MIDI controllers (0 and 32) are recognized when passed through MIDI thru and presented in the graphic editor.
• New: In the Rhythm Explorer pattern algorithms there is a 13% chance that a given pattern will search for a drum track and groove quantize to it. If the option key is held when generating patterns the chance rises to 100%.
• New: Auto detection of soft-synth bank and patch changes (for plug-ins like Absynth 3). If a patch is changed within a plug-in's user interface, Metro does a better job by noticing it and keeping the current program name display in sync.
• New: Multiple instances of plug-ins are now more aptly named. For example, the second Absynth 3 instance will be named Absynth 3-2 instead of Absynth 4.
• Fixed: Better support for real time editing and audio tracks especially when the edit changes the track length.
• Fixed: The Jukebox was erroneously converting little endian 24 bit .WAV audio files.
• Fixed: the playback time sent to aux buss plug-in effects was incorrect for the first two buffers sent. In most cases this would have no adverse affects.
• Fixed: Metro detects MIDI and KAR files better than in previous versions.
• Fixed: Highlighting of the tracks window and graphic editor during drags would sometimes not work correctly.
• Fixed: the 'beat and tempo' procedure called by Audio Unit plug-ins now provides greater accuracy.
• Fixed: pasting past the end of a playing track could sometimes cause weird results.
• Fixed: Expanding subsections did not create new instances of track insert plug-ins like it should have.
• Fixed: Get info in the jukebox window correctly shows the file information even if the file is a high-resolution audio file written by QuickTIme 7.
• Fixed: Changing patches in background when programs were mapping to plug-in presets was previously not working correctly.
• Fixed: Copying subsections not always working correctly.
• Fixed: In some cases the graphic editor view would be wrong after a paste.
• Fixed: Undo was in some cases created a blank track.
• Fixed: Dragging numbers up and down did not work well when there was a large range between the minimum and maximum allowable entries.
• Fixed: The velocity setting of groove and track quantize has been vastly improved in the case when there are multiple notes in the source.
• Fixed: Track names derived from file names now automatically remove the extension.
• Fixed: crash was occurring on clear of an audio track if all regions were selected and the track was looped
• Fixed: crash was occurring if rewire was enabled but the rewire slave did not start up properly.
• Fixed: if loading of a rewire panel application failed, Metro would completely tear down rewire.
• Fixed: Metro sample converter was not converting 32 bit (non-float) files correctly in some cases.
• Fixed: the Metronome was not clicking in some cases after a cue loop occurred or in some cases if there were looped tracks.
• Fixed: Double clicking in the tracks window would bring up the beginning of the current selection in the graphic editor instead of the time that the mouse was clicked.
• Fixed: Setting the bar length of a playing-looped-non-MIDI-track to 0 could of resulted in a crash.
• Fixed: Clearing the map program numbers to presets from the 'EFX MIDI filter and options' dialog accessed from the effects/synths window would sometimes not dispose of the generated program name lists.
• Fixed: In some cases VST synths would not show up in graphic editor popup.
• Fixed: The annoying change port dialog only pops up once now if the document contains stale core audio device outputs.
• Fixed: Transposing a track containing both an audio and a MIDI view now does the right thing.
• Fixed: Labels around parameter knobs in the effects window were overwriting each other for certain AU's without editors.
• Fixed: Certain audio operations were being disabled erroneously if the track was an Audio + MIDI track.
• Fixed: Miscellaneous other minor bug fixes.
