Version 6.1.0.6 pre-release (no longer) available!

The version 6.1.0.6 pre-release is now available.

Download it here:
http://www.sagantech.biz/downloads/downloads.shtml

IMPORTANT: The official system requirements have changed as of 6.1.

IMPORTANT: Metro Documents written with this version will NOT be readable in any version prior to Metro/Metro SE version 6.1!

IMPORTANT: This is a pre-release, meaning it has some bug fixes (and possibly features) that were deemed important enough to be released before all configurations could be rigorously tested.

New to this version:

• Added new Remote Control Events, Mute Current, Solo Current, Arm Current.
• Added a feature so that when a audio track is imported or, created via Mix or Render audio, the new track is automatically selected.
• Fast forward now works nicely with Core Audio devices (OS X).
• Some color scheme specific cosmetic changes were made.
• Added a new option in the switches menu, continuous data display. With the default (on) this will draw the waveform for audio track or note display for MIDI track underneath the continuous data.
• Added a new preference menu item in general preferences for using standard menus whenever possible. There are a couple of instances where it is not possible because of special drawind that occurs within the menu. Namely the note pop-ups in the graphic editor and the algorithms selection in the Rhythm explorer. All others should be working now.
• Many changes were made so that the Quartz Font Drawing option will look good and work properly.
• Worked around a bug in many AudioUnit (AU) plug-ins that say that they have 2 busses when in fact they really only have 1. This was causing Metro to output in mono for certain plug-ins instead of stereo.
• Added a new region icon in the graphic editor when an audio track is selected. For now this will turn on and off region outlines (this may change in the future).
• Latencies of plug-ins (AU and VST) are now handled better. Plug-in latencies when rendering are accurate to the sample if the latency is a multiple of audio packet size. This means plug-ins with built-in delays will play back and render better than before.
• Cleanup of the section event editor. It is now more eye-friendly and works much better with larger font-sizes.
• Fixed a bug where when a track is converted from a soft-synth to a regular MIDI track, real time editing would cause Metro to stop.
• Fixed a bug where clicking in a field in the section event editor could act strangely.
• Fixed a continuous display problem where the labels on the left were being truncated to an incorrect number.
• Fixed a bug which made creating new drum sets on the fly impossible.
• Fixed a bug where when Pitchbend display was on notes were not de-selecting properly.
• Fixed a crash. To reproduce crash before it was fixed... Add 2 effects clear the second one and then delete the entire track.
• Fixed a bug where if the section event editor was looped and contained tempo events, the second loop iteration would cause soft-synth tracks to lose synchronization.
• Fixed a bug where when the output of an effect (or soft-synth) was changed when the transport was inactive, it would not take affect immediately.
• Fixed a bug where upon reloading of a Metro document, the AU soft-synth or AU effect was not reconfigured to the match the number of inputs and outputs that it had when saved.
• Fixed a crash that could occur when restore outputs (special menu) is selected and an aux buss exists!
• Fixed the style menu so that when an item is chosen from it, the item toggles correctly.
• Fixed a bug which could cause remote control events to not be serviced when the Graphic Editor was frontmost.
• Fixed a bug that caused the Note Pad to not always copy and paste text data correctly.

The audio side of this is cool. It looks like it just greys out the waveform underneath.
With midi, if you only have a few notes say covering one octave, it stretches them out vertically to fit the whole graphic editor and the scale on the left is 0 to 128 for say volume.
Is there a way to have them appear more wysiwyg? - leaving the midi notes just greyed out where they were without stretching them?

Since the display on the left is for the controller, the notes are there basically to mark where the noteons and noteoffs are. They must be scaled to fit it in the window since the scroll bar is disabled.
