6.1.0.1 Pre-release no longer available.

The version 6.1.0.1 pre-release is now available. Users that downloaded the 6.1 pre-release are strongly urged to download this update.

Download it here:
http://www.sagantech.biz/downloads/downloads.shtml

IMPORTANT: The official system requirements have changed. Metro 6.1 requires either OS 10.2 or later or OS 9.1 - OS 9.2.x! It is possible that Metro 6.1 will work with other OS's (such as 8.6, 9.0 & 10.1.5) but they are no longer supported.

IMPORTANT: Metro Documents written with this version will NOT be readable in any version prior to Metro/Metro SE version 6.1!

IMPORTANT: This is a pre-release, meaning it has some bug fixes (and possibly features) that were deemed important enough to be released before it could be rigorously tested.

An optimization in 6.1 was removed because it was causing problems with random crashes and even a potential data corruption. If you are doing a lot of real-time MIDI edits and you find Metro to be performing slow, it is recommended that you close the notation window.

Detailed changes in this version:

• Fixed a keyboard shorcut conflict between the lyrics window and the looping dialog. The looping dialog shortcut is now Open-Apple + Ctrl + L.
• Fixed a problem where an erroneous error would occur if you tried to normalize a MIDI track.
• Miscellaneous changes to add stability to this version.

Detailed changes in 6.1

• Notation and Lyrics window in OS X.
• Notation printing in OS X.
• Notation enhancements, such as page numbers, date and time text.
• New standard saving and loading of Audio Unit presets (.aupreset files) thanks to Marc Poirier.
• New remote control events for Arming new audio track, jogging with any controller and jogging with a jog controller.
• Enhanced support for Absynth, Phatmatik Pro and other plug-ins.
• Automation problem with AudioUnits plug-ins has been addressed. Numbers typed into parameters are now automated.
• Automation displays in the graphic editor (audio units only) now reflect the exact range of the parameter shown rather than 0.0 to 1.0.
• Double-click in Notation to bring you to the same location in graphic editor (or list-editor if on in switches menu).
• Synthesizer plug-in editor windows now show unique names in the windows menu when multiple instances are in use. e.g. Absynth1, Absynth2, etc.
• Owners of site-licenses can now easily deploy Metro/Metro SE with the new Sasafrass KeyServer support.
• New ability to clear the recent items from the open and import menus.

How do you normalize midi?
Aren't the audio effects greyed out?

I'm confused. I have Metro G4, so which upgrade applies to me? the 6.08
or the 6.101?

Thanks...hh

6.08 is regarded as a final release whereas 6.1.0.1 is currently known as a pre release, meaning you may experience errors or bugs but you get to see new features and old bug fixes first hand.

Advice

- if you're worried about stability don't grab 6.1. I'm not saying it's unstable just that you may be worried about it. Usually new versions are pretty stable.

- if you're interested in running notation in OSX or assisting in helping Jerm iron out bugs grab 6.1
(the almost instant loading of absynth was worth the download alone :) )

I'm still using G4 6.05. So i guess it's not too different from 6.08.

If I decide not to download 6.08, is it okay to try the 6.101 and it will read the files from 6.05?

Thanks again....hh

Alll files in any version of Metro are forward compatible. In other words, as long as the version of the program is greater than the version used to write the data, the data (document) will open. The opposite is not true. Metro is not backward compatible. In some cases Metro can read files from similar versions.

Any Metro documents you write with the 6.0.5 version will be readable in 6.1.0.1
Any Metro documents you write with the 6.1.0.1 version will not be readable in 6.0.5.
