Metro 6.0.8.2 pre-release (no longer available)!

Postby Jerm » Tue Sep 02, 2003 3:34 pm

The Metro 6.0.8.2 pre-release is available now.

Download it here:
http://www.sagantech.biz/downloads/downloads.shtml

IMPORTANT: Metro Documents written with this version will NOT be readable in any prior Metro/Metro SE version!

IMPORTANT: This is a pre-release, meaning it has some bug fixes (and possibly features) that were deemed important enough to be released before it could be rigorously tested.

Detailed changes in this version:

• An important fix was made that affects Mac OS 9 computers without the native time manager and using synth plug-ins (VSTI's). On these computers (such as the beige G3's and earlier) synchronization between VSTi's and the rest of the sequence was considerably off.

• A fix related to installing a plug-in (namely Apple's Matrix Reverb) on an aux buss was made where the plug-in had an odd number of outputs greater than 2 such as 3, 5 or 7. Instead of unexpectedly quitting, Metro will now only select an even number of outputs for such cases.

• By request, remote control is now implemented so that for each event a MIDI source port can be selected. http://www.sagantech.com/metroforum/viewtopic.php?t=34

• Sections greater than 255 can now be edited properly. http://www.sagantech.com/metroforum/viewtopic.php?t=330

• An option has been added to the Core Audio digital audio setup dialog to allow for a pre-roll before playback commences. This was added because some PCI cards glitch badly without it.

• Audio file names now inherit their base name from their track instead of the current document. If you want audio file names to correspond to the track they are on then you need to title your track before recording. http://www.sagantech.com/metroforum/viewtopic.php?t=331

• Some potential memory leaks with Audio Unit presets and OMS have been plugged.

• The columns of the track window, including the audio-input-select column are now memorized and restored when Metro is launched. The audio-input-select column also defaults to visible now.

• A problem where Metro would crash (OS 10.1.5 only) when importing .ins files has been corrected

• A scrolling bug in the Jukebox has been fixed. This only happened with fast machines under OS X. You can also now drag files to the jukebox window after all exisiting files. Previously Metro allowed positioning dragged files in the Jukebox in any position but the last.

• Fixed a problem which occured when changing port from MIDI to synth plug-in. After the change cue looping would fail.

• Fixed a problem that caused subsections to not be able to be pasted across tracks and sections (since 6.0).

• Selecting the audio record input so that it changes from mono to stereo or visa versa was causing silence on play-thru.

• Cosmetic changes to the note pop-up menus.

If anyone is getting a slow download just cancel and try downloading again.

I had to try 3 times before I got a speed quicker than 100 bytes/sec and a download time of over 10 hours.

I can't get it to download at all. I tried in safari and in Explorer. In safari it blinks a couple of times and goes back a page. In Explorer it just stays on the download page and does nothing.

Nope. But I remember that I initially had trouble downloading Metro on Safari and ended up doing it on Explorer. Right now I can't get either to work. I've got to take off this evening on a business trip but I will try again next week and let you know.

It is sometimes not so obvious that explorer is downloading a file at all. It is necessary to look in the download manager window.

Just wanted to follow up on my download problem. I never could get it to download on safari but did get it to download on Explorer. At one point in the past I had Speed-download and I'm wondering if there is some residual file left on my harddrive that interferes with Metro downloads. I can't find it if it's there.

But anyway, all is fine and I'm enjoying the new metro.

On a similar topic, does the sagantech plist file in the preferences under OSX store your name and password when you click the login blob to go to the downloads section of sagantech?

Does that depend on the browser?

"does the sagantech plist file"

The info is stored in a browser specific cookie. It is why my IE doesn't prompt me after I've checked the "remember" box... but my Safari does (I've never logged into the Download area using it... )

Check "Preferences" in IE under "Cookies" and you will see "several" from sagantech. The actual amount depends on the sections of the site you have logged in on and whether you've checked the "remember" box on your pass word prompt...

The "plist file" stores Preferences for the Application and is not connected to web browsers...

;)
