Problems sending main volume to MIDI devices

Postby cornutt » Tue Nov 20, 2007 11:32 am

I've run into an odd problem. In some cases, I can't send main volume CC MIDI codes to a MIDI device. It's odd and not totally repeatable, but as a for instance, I have found one track where if I start the playback at a certain bar, it works until the next time I edit the continuous data. In another track, it works in certain bars and not in other bars earlier in the track. And sometimes the fader position in the mixer window does not agree with the MIDI that has been sent. The really odd thing is that this only seems to happen with the main volume (controller 7); if I go into the event editor and change it to some other controller number, it works.

I'm running 6.3.8.3. I see in the bug fix list for 6.3.8.6 a reference to "sometimes continuous data is displayed incorrectly". Was this the problem I'm seeing, or have I run into something else?

Hi Cornutt,
I was having similar issues with 6.3.8.3 a few days earlier before the release of 6.8.3.6 and the fix in that release for me was this one below.

• Recording of MIDI volume and pan information would fail in some cases.

Hope you got it resolved

It may have been related to a problem with the master volume. Have you tried 6.4 or the latest 6.3.x release?

I'm still having the problem in 6.3.8.6. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I'm currently working on an older project -- one that I started with some version of 6.1. I'm going to upgrade to 6.4 this weekend.
