6.0.7 doesn't remember transport window location

Postby cornutt » Tue Jun 17, 2003 10:16 pm

An odd little thing... with 6.0.7.2 and .3, no matter where I put the transport window, when I save and then re-open the file, unlike all the other windows it doesn't go back where it was put. Some specifics: G4, 10.2.4, with one of the dual-port video cards (an AGP port and a VGA port). I have a dual-monitor setup, with an Apple Studio Display 17", and a Sony 15" plugged into the VGA port. The Sony is configured physically to the left of the Studio Display, with their bottom edges in line (meaning that the top edge of the Sony is lower than the top edge of the Studio Display). I like for the transport window, the instruments window, and the note pad to be over on the Sony so I have the large area of the Studio Display for the graphic editor window and the tracks window.

When I open any Metro file, it always positions the transport window straddling the two displays. The window's button bar is on the rightmost edge of the Sony, and the rest of the window is hanging off over the left edge of the Studio Display. Other windows always go back to where they were; it's only the transport window that misbehaves.

There was a change the made sure the transport window (in OS X) is on the screen because it had been possible in previous versions if the left edge of the transport window was off the screen that it could not be moved back.

Is it true that this does not happen before 6.0.7.2?

Just playing around with 6.0.7.3 in OS9.

If I move the transport from the original bottom of the screen to the middle of the screen and save it remembers.

If I have it sitting halfway off the screen to the left and save, when reopening metro it puts the transport window on the screen completely over on the right mid screen.

Will re-edit message when back in OSX. :)

In OSX the transport window is kind of locked onto the screen and you can't sneak any part of its left side off the screen.......or should I say your left'est most screen I guess.

It bounces quite nicely over the dock to avoid getting lost behind it.

Does 'floating' the transport window make any difference in your setup? or turning it off if you have it on.
Are you saving the file or saving the preferences?

I just tried 6.0.5 and it behaves the same. I don't have any version of Metro 6 earlier than that.

I am assuming that this problem is gone in 6.0.8. If not please let me know.

I'll give it a try when I find time to download. It may be a few days. I'm in a groove right now.
